Green Key is a voluntary eco-label awarded to hotels, hostels, campsites, holiday parks, small accommodations, as well as conference centers, attractions, and restaurants.

The Green Key certification is based on compliance with strict, internationally recognized criteria in environmental management (water, energy, waste, cleaning, etc.) and sustainability education (staff, guests, suppliers, etc.).

Compliance with the criteria is verified through a rigorous application process and third-party verification, including regular on-site audits. The certification is valid for 1 year at a time.

Currently (May 2023), over 4,000 establishments in 60 countries hold the Green Key certification.

Green Key is recognized by various institutional partners, international hotel chains, and tour operator partners, and it also collaborates with several online partners. The Green Key program is managed by the international non-profit Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and its national member organizations.
